Freeborne

Biography

This obscure later-’60s band was typical of several young Boston sets of the era within their eclectic mixture of psychedelic influences, using a sound heavy on electric keyboards and wailing guitar. These were also regular, it should be stated, in how their eclecticism non-etheless sounded pedestrian because of their relatively undistinguished first materials and their ambitious mishmash of substances. Their sole record, 1967’s Top Impression, was large on minimal melodies and haunting harmonies, and just a little uncommon for enough time in its variety of musical instruments (all played with the music group), including cello, recorder, harpsichord, and trumpet as well as the regular guitars, key pad, bass, and drum. The record was reissued on Compact disc by Distortions a lot more than 30 years afterwards. The Freeborne’s lead guitarist, Bob Margolin, continued to produce a larger tag in blues and rock and roll using Muddy Waters and Johnny Wintertime.
