Fredrik Thordendal

Biography

In 1989, guitarist Fredrik Thordendal formed the progressive metallic music group Meshuggah in Umeå, Sweden; their 1994 debut album and following recordings helped them create a cult worldwide audience. Thordendal after that formed a far more jazz-influenced side-project music group known as Fredrik Thordendal’s Unique Defects, which presented Jonas Knutsson (saxophones), Mats ?-berg (keyboards), and Morten Ågren (drums). The group’s preliminary work, Sol Niger Within, premiered in 1999.
