Freddie Roulette

The slack key and steel guitar tradition of Hawaii continues to be adapted for the blues by Illinois-born and San Francisco-based guitarist Freddie Roulette. Known for his great shade and intense, high-note, squeals, Roulette provides a number of the blues’ most exclusive sounds. Furthermore to recording being a soloist, Roulette provides collaborated with bluesmen Earl Hooker and Charlie Musselwhite and electric guitar wizards Henry Kaiser and Steve Kinmock. His 1978 debut single album, Lovely Funky Metal, was made by previous Canned Temperature guitarist, Harvey Mandel. Roulette’s lust from the metal electric guitar was sparked when he noticed a woman playing the device at St. Mary’s primary college in Evanston, IL. Acquiring lessons within the seventh and eight quality, he soon learned the instrument. Taken to San Francisco within the middle-’70s by Musselwhite, Roulette provides continued to contact the region “house.” Performing mainly with obscure groupings, including, Robert Leroy Jones as well as the Crossroads, Roulette products his income from music by owning a low-income house building in Western world Berkeley.
