Biography

b. Herbert Frederick Hunt, 21 Sept 1923, London, Britain, d. 25 Apr 1986, Weybridge, Surrey, Britain. A self-taught pianist, Hunt started playing jazz within the 40s. Within the next 10 years he surfaced as a substantial amount in traditional jazz when, after stints with Mike Daniels and Cy Laurie, he became a member of Alex Welsh. Through the entire 50s and 60s, Hunt could possibly be noticed with Welsh where he was a highlighted soloist and a stalwart person in the robustly swinging tempo section. His use Welsh didn’t prevent him from associated visiting Us citizens, including recording using the four-tenor group, Tenor Of Jazz, offering Ben Webster and Eddie ‘Lockjaw’ Davis, which toured in the past due 60s. Within the middle-70s Hunt still left the united kingdom, residing successively in South Africa, Denmark and Germany. By the end of the 10 years he came back to the united kingdom but soon soon after retired through sick health. Although appreciated mainly for his lengthy association with Welsh, Hunt’s eclectic, solid style produced him a sought-after and completely dependable player both in traditional and mainstream configurations.
