Fred E. Ahlert

Tin Skillet Alley songwriter Fred E. Ahlert’s most typical composing partner was Roy Turk, with whom he published the 1928 strike “I’ll MANAGE (SO LONG AS I’VE You).” The track was originally documented by Ruth Etting and was later on revived by Irene Dunn, who sang it in the 1943 film A Guy Called Joe. Another tune by Ahlert and Turk was “Mean if you ask me,” documented in 1929 by Etting and in addition by Helen Morgan. The next year noticed Ahlert’s “Strolling My Baby BACK” documented by Harry Richman and in 1931, Ahlert penned a tune that became among Kate Smith’s 1st strikes: “I HAVE NO IDEA Why (I SIMPLY Perform).” In 1931, Ahlert also published what was to become signature track of Bing Crosby’s, “Where in fact the Blue of the night time Meets the Platinum of your day.” Ahlert’s last strike was included with 1935’s “I’m Gonna Sit down DOWN and Write Myself a Notice.”
