Franz Xaver Scharwenka

Franz Xaver Scharwenka was younger sibling (by 3 years) of another composer and instructor, Philipp Scharwenka. Neither of these had very much formal musical education apart from what was provided in their regional institutions in Posen, Poland. The family members transferred to Berlin in 1865, where they enrolled at the brand new Academy of Music. Xaver received piano lessons from Kullak, the top from the Academy, and produced rapid improvement. He debuted being a pianist on the Singakademie in 1869 and was employed to instruct piano on the academy. He was drafted in to the armed forces in 1873 and offered his season. In Dec, 1874, he started his first concert tour. During his profession he would consider many tours, vacationing throughout Europe, america, and Canada. In 1877 he premiered his piano concerto in B level, written primarily being a showpiece for himself. His Berlin conservatory acquired merged using a rival organization operate by Karl Klindworth in 1893, but in a short time the two acquired disagreed about plan and Klindworth resigned. Scharwenka came back to Europe often, re-settling there along with his family members in 1898. In Germany he helped discovered the Music Instructors Federation in 1900 as well as the Federation of German Executing Performers in 1912.
