Frank Rosolino

Jazz trombonist Frank Rosolino matched the idiom’s giants in fluidity, technique, and creativity. He was a comic vocalist, but there is nothing at all funny about his solos. These were soft and dazzling, shipped easily and precision. Created in Detroit, Rosolino started like a guitarist at 10 and trombone later on in his teenagers. He became a member of the military at 18, and used service rings both in the us as well as the Philippines. He performed in a number of big rings after his release, included in this Bob Chester, Glen Grey, Gene Krupa, Tony Pastor, Herbie Areas, and Georgie Auld. Rosolino started leading his personal group in Detroit, after that became a member of Stan Kenton’s orchestra in past due 1952. He spent his second option profession in California, using Howard Rumsey’s Lighthouse All-Stars from 1954 to 1960 and with Donn Trenner’s music group for Steve Allen’s tv program from 1962 to 1964. Rosolino do several studio times in Hollywood, after that worked in European countries with Conte Candoli through the ’70s. He toured with Benny Carter in 1974, and caused Supersax and Quincy Jones in Japan, showing up often on documenting classes and film soundtracks. Tragically, Rosolino dedicated suicide in 1978.
