Biography
Vocalist/songwriter Frank Morey hasn’t been accused of experiencing a lovely, pretty, angelic type of tone of voice. The Lowell, MA, indigenous is known to get a rough, durable, throaty design of performing, and his tone of voice is ideal for his extremely earthy, blues-minded folk-rock and origins rock and roll — Morey’s expressive vocals are as gritty because they are soulful. THE BRAND NEW Englander, who takes on classical guitar and harmonica, provides a number of affects to the desk. He has frequently been in comparison to early Tom Waits, and his additional affects range between Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen towards the past due Chicago blues huge Howlin’ Wolf. Within the northeastern area of the USA, Morey offers tended to fare well among supporters of anti-folk — a gutsy, punk-minded, in-your-face type of folk-rock that’s associated with performers like Lach, Lenny Molotov, as well as the Philadelphia-based Adam Brodsky (amongst others). Morey isn’t anti-folk by itself — he includes a even more classic kind of audio — but just like the anti-folk audience, he prefers his folk-rock with a hardcore, hard edge and lots of guts. And he stocks a lot of anti-folk’s affects, specifically the seminal Bob Dylan. Morey (whose live shows typically consist of both addresses and original materials) continues to be playing the Massachusetts membership scene because the ’90s. His initial record, Father John’s Medication, was released over the Indigo Hamlet label in 2000 and was accompanied by Morey’s sophomore record, Cold in mind. In 2002, Morey agreed upon with veteran manufacturer Bob Koester’s Chicago-based Delmark label and documented his third record, The Delmark Periods.
