Frank Catalano

Chicago’s Frank Catalano is really a soulful jazz saxophonist that has garnered interest like a sought-after program participant, touring musician, and bandleader. Playing tenor saxophone because the age group of eight, Catalano sharpened his playing abilities as students at DePaul University or college and released his professional music profession while still an adolescent. After using jazz drummer Louis Bellson and avant-garde jazz organist Charles Earland in 1991, he approved an invitation to become listed on pop vocalist Tony Bennett’s group. Furthermore to Bennett, Catalano offers performed and/or documented having a bevy of titles including Clark Terry, Johnny “Hammond” Smith, Kenny Loggins, Jimmy McGriff, Randy Brecker, and Arturo Sandoval. Catalano offers increasingly drawn interest for his personal skills. His debut single recording, Cut It Out, released in Feb 1988, was included on lists from the year’s greatest mainstream albums published by Jazz Instances, Los Angeles Regular, as well as the Chicago Tribune. His second work, Pins ‘n’ Fine needles, presented accompaniment by trumpeter/flügelhornist Randy Brecker, pianist Willie Pickens, bassist Larry Grey, and drummer Joel Spencer. He proceeds to perform along with his personal quartet, offering guitarist Kirk Hunter, Hammond B-3 organist Vijay Tellis-Nayak, and drummer Dan Leali, in addition to with John Burnett & His Orchestra and Lenny King’s Chicago Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra. In 2001, he became a member of vocalist Peter Oprisko for Ring-A-Ding Love!: Peter Oprisko Sings! Saxophonist Frank Catalano Takes on! He also released the concert recording Live on the Green Mill that calendar year. In 2005, Catalano came back with the studio room record Mighty Burner, implemented two years afterwards by Bang! In 2016, he matched with saxophonist David Sanborn and Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin for Bye Bye Blackbird: Blowing in from Chicago for Von and Eddie.
