Biography

Frank Capp, a flexible and consistently swinging drummer, wants to drive a huge band. As head from the Juggernaut (an organization he co-led with Nat Pierce beginning in 1975, before pianist’s loss of life in 1992), he surely got to press and inspire a few of Los Angeles’ greatest. Capp discovered his initial popularity using Stan Kenton’s Orchestra (1951). 2 yrs later, he resolved in LA; became a busy studio room musician; and used everyone from Ella Fitzgerald, Harry Adam, and Charlie Barnet to Stan Getz, Artwork Pepper, and Dave Pell. He documented frequently with Andre Previn’s Trio (1957-1964), and in addition made information with Benny Goodman (1958), Terry Gibbs, and Turk Murphy. Capp proved helpful steadily on tv shows and in the film studios in the 1960s, and (beginning in the 1970s) documented extensively in a number of configurations for Concord. The Capp-Pierce Juggernaut (afterwards known simply because the Juggernaut) occasionally sounded identical towards the ’70s Count number Basie Orchestra, and offered as an ideal format for the drummer’s colourful playing.
