As the son of the organist Fetis discovered to try out the organ aswell as the piano and violin. By 1821 he was a teacher of organ on the Paris Conservatoy and became the librarian there in 1827. Through the years 1827-1833 he founded and edited the musical mag “Revue Musicale”. In 1833 Fetis was appointed the movie director from the Brussels Conservatory and became the get good at from the chapel towards the Belgian courtroom. Although he constructed several pieces, Fetis is well known for his theorestical and traditional functions. His singularly most participating function was the “Biographie universelle des musiciens” that was conceived to assemble all information regarding music of days gone by with replete documents. Being a tight systematizer, Fetis arranged traditional concerts and conceptually prepared a “Philosophie generale de la musique” that he discussed an interpretation of musical background through conventions of the days. It needed the idea of discarding conventionality in the expectations of, ironically, locating the great music of days gone by and present in order to guideline human improvement. Fetis’ compositions, mainly vocal, were able but aren’t known today. Styles consist of comic opera, mass motions, body organ fantasias and several orchestral works.
