Francisco Ernani Braga

Braga studied on the Imperial Conservatory and later on on the Paris Conservatoire under Massenet, due to a scholarship or grant stemming from a competition for the structure of a fresh Brazilian country wide anthem (which he didn’t gain). He transferred to Germany in 1896 and was intensely influenced with the methods of Wagner. During this time period he composed his symphonic poems =Marab? = (1928) and =Episóperform sinfônico= (1900). His initial opera, =Jupira,= (1922) was created during a brief stay static in Italy. Braga was a dynamic conductor and kept regular concerts from the Rio Sociedade de Concertos Sinfônicos for pretty much twenty years. He was teacher of composition on the Instituto Nacional de Música from 1902-38. His compositons are mainly orchestral and so are within a late Romantic Western european style.
