Drummer/percussionist Francisco Aguabella emigrated to NEW YORK from his indigenous Matanzas, Cuba — where African music was a custom — in 1957. He implemented a long type of Cuban drummers who produced their mark in the us: Chano Pozo, Patato Valdez, Candido, and Mongo Santamaria. Aguabella’s music fuses traditional African and Latin rhythms with simple jazz/spirit for an electrifying audio. His proficiency in the bata (speaking drums of Yoruba origins) produced him a needed man. He initial caused Dizzy Gillespie, after that Peggy Lee, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Weather conditions Statement, Cal Tjader, Frank Sinatra, Louie Bellson, Walfredo de los Reyes, Nancy Wilson, Lalo Schifrin, Machito, and Carlos Santana. He was a genuine person in Malo, including Jorge Santana; Malo experienced three LP produces and crisscrossed the Says before disbanding. The famous drummer participated in film soundtracks and tv scores. Maker Les Empty chronicled Aguabella’s profession within the documentary Sworn towards the Drum.
