Francis Williams

An associate of Duke Ellington’s trumpet section for quite some time within the mid- to past due ’40s, Williams spent the majority of his profession taking part in in big rings. Williams performed trumpet in his senior high school music group, after that with trombonist Frank Terry’s Chicago Nightingales for quite some time within the ’30s. He relocated to NY in 1940 and caused pianist Fat Waller’s big music group. Within the years before becoming a member of Ellington, Williams used Ella Fitzgerald, Claude Hopkins, and Machito, amongst others. Williams used Ellington from 1945-1949, and once again in 1951. Within the ’50s, he caused Latin rings and pit orchestras. He used Earl Coleman from 1959-1962, after that spent several even more years playing Broadway displays. Within the ’70s, Williams gigged and toured with Clyde Bernhardt; he also performed solo dates abroad and caused both Harlem Blues & Jazz Band and Panama Francis’ Savoy Sultans.
