Avant jazz and improvisational group Food were founded in 1998 being a collaborative effort between United kingdom saxophonist Iain Ballamy and Norwegian drummer Thomas Strønen following a chance conference. By enough time they started recording, that they had extended to a quartet that also included trumpeter Arve Henricksen and bassist Mats Eilertsen. Their self-titled debut providing, aswell as Organic & GM Meals, appeared for the Feral label in 1999 and 2001, respectively. By enough time they released Veggie in 2002 and Last Supper in 2004, that they had shifted to Rune Grammophon. The music group was pared right down to the initial duo of Bellamy and Strønen for 2007’s Molecular Gastronomy. After several tours and event looks as both a duo and in cooperation with other music artists, Food authorized with ECM for 2010’s Calm Inlet. The addition of Christian Fennesz on acoustic guitar and consumer electronics and Nils Petter Molvær on trumpet and consumer electronics extended the group to a quartet once again. For 2012’s Mercurial Balm (also on ECM), the lineup extended additional, adding Prakash Sontakke on slip acoustic guitar and vocals and Evind Aarset on guitar and consumer electronics. Food played some European times in the wake from the album’s launch. Strønen and Ballamy along with Fennesz reconvened in engineer Ulf Holand’s (David Bowie, Satyricon, Motorpsycho) Oslo studio room in June of 2013. They documented an abundance of materials. Strønen required the tapes and done them only for five weeks, radically reshaping the actual group had slice. The outcome more straight referenced rock and roll and traveling electronica. Label mind Manfred Eicher combined the tapes as the bandmembers had been rehearsing to execute the materials live. THIS ISN’T a Miracle premiered by ECM in November of 2015, while Meals had been on tour.
