Flying Machine

Not to end up being confused with the American music group of an identical name (The Soaring Machine, of Wayne Taylor popularity), Soaring Machine was a English studio music group formed by maker/songwriters Tony Macaulay (most widely known for his use The Foundations) and Geoff Stevens, partly from the remnants of Pinkerton’s Assorted Colors (aka The Pinkertons), with guitarist Tony Newman about vocals, Steve Jones about lead acoustic guitar and vocals, Sam Kempe about vocals, Stewart Coleman about bass, and Paul Wilkinson about drums. The group’s sound ranged from pop to light psychedelia, plus they released a string of singles on Pye in 1969 and 1970, culminating using the album RIGHT DOWN TO Earth USING THE Soaring Machine in 1970. All their work was put together on the two-CD arranged from Sequel known as Airline flight Recorder in 1998.
