Floyd O’Brien

An excellent trombonist having a warm tone and a good improvising design (while not on the amount of Jack port Teagarden), Floyd O’Brien performed numerous top music artists throughout his profession. He began playing in early 1920s Chicago and was an unofficial person in The Austin SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL Gang. Through the 1920s, O’Brien was using the rings of Earl Fuller, Floyd City, Charles Pierce, Thelma Terry and Husk O’Hare, amongst others. After employed in a pit music group in Des Moines, Iowa (1930-31), O’Brien used Mal Hallett and in NY with Joe Venuti, Smith Ballew and Mike Durso (1933-34). O’Brien offered using the big rings of Phil Harris (1935-39), Gene Krupa (1939-40) and Bob Crosby (1940-42). He relocated to LA in 1943 where he used Eddie Miller’s short-lived big music group, documented with Bunk Johnson and caused Shorty Sherock, Jack port Teagarden and Wingy Manone. O’Brien relocated permanently back again to Chicago in 1948, freelancing through the entire 1950s (including with Bud Freeman, Artwork Hodes and Danny Alvin). He worked well in old age being a brass instructor and a piano tuner. The trombonist was on many record schedules through the years including with Bud Freeman (back 1928), Eddie Condon (beginning in 1933), Excess fat Waller, Mezz Mezzrow, George Wettling (1940), Bob Crosby, Charles LaVere (1944), Artwork Hodes, Danny Alvin, Albert Nicholas (1959) and Smokey Stover. Nevertheless O’Brien only got one possibility to business lead his very own record date, leading to two game titles for Leap in 1945 which have been released under pianist Charles LaVere’s name.
