Flashing Lights

The Flashing Lamps first started like a ’60s cover music group that played around Halifax when guitarist/vocalist Matt Murphy wasn’t busy along with his primary music group, the Super Friendz. Following the Friendz disbanded in 1997, Murphy shifted to Toronto with longtime friend and bassist Henri Sangalang, and both quickly added keyboardist Gaven Dianda and drummer Steve Pitkin towards the Lamps’ lineup. The group centered on the ’60s sound and affects just like the Kinks, Video game Theory, as well as the Who. The music group played locally, creating a solid group of fans, while documenting their first recording. Instead of hassling having a label, the music group released the full-length Where in fact the Change Is individually. In fall 1999, the Lamps toured with the neighborhood Rabbits and Thrush Hermit; Where in fact the Change Is premiered within the U.S. within the springtime of 2000.
