Fishboy

An indie pop group whose eclectic audio embraces anything from lo-fi acoustic jangliness to full-bodied power pop gusto, Fishboy are, at their primary, a car for the bright-eyed zany tunes of Eric Michener. Michener, a indigenous Texan, was dubbed “Fishboy” when, provoked with a dare, he ate a live seafood on the Dallas Globe Aquarium throughout a middle-school field trip — a stunt that allegedly continued to be shown on the neighborhood information. Michener’s debut record, Tim Fly’s Trigger He’s HAVING A GREAT TIME, premiered in 2000 on Business Offer Records, a little label/music collective co-founded by Michener’s old sibling Dirk. A self-released odds-and-sods CD-R, The American Close friends of Carlos Velez, arrived two years afterwards, and was implemented up by 2003’s Zipbangboom, which highlighted Adam Avramescu on horn. Avramescu officially became a member of the group on that discharge, and was the to begin several members to become put into Fishboy’s ever-shifting lineup during the period of the following couple of years. By enough time the band’s third full-length discharge, Small D, rolled around in 2005, Fishboy got expanded to add drummer Winston Reed Chapman and bassist Brady Goodwin. Chapman still left the band immediately after the record was released to be able to concentrate on his use Bosque Dark brown; drummer John Clardy got his put in place the winter of this year. Boosted with the positive reviews of this record, Fishboy spent the next season gigging with high-profile rings and came out in the Chicagoland kid’s Television show Chic-a-Go-Go. Goodwin still left the music group in the summertime of 2006 to be able to go to a seminary, and was changed by bassist Justin Lloyd that fall. Fishboy had been picked up with the Athens, Georgia-based label Content Content Birthday if you ask me right around that point, and their 4th full-length, Albatross: HOW EXACTLY WE Failed to Conserve the Lone Superstar State with the energy of Stone, premiered in 2007. Their following record, 2011’s Basic Creeps, was also released by HHBTM, which time Michener got a new ensemble of characters assisting out; Adam Avramescu on piano, body organ, trumpet, French horn, percussion, and group vocals, Tommy Garcia on drums, percussion, whistle, group vocals, and Ryan Williams on electrical and upright bass. By enough time they self-released 2014’s An Elephant, an idea record about Thomas Edison and Topsy the Elephant that was included with a Michener-drawn comic, the band’s brand-new lineup included Scarlett Wright on bass, Grahm Robinson on drums, and Samuel Escalante on tips and horns.
