Home / Biography / Fischerspooner

The brand new wave/electro-pop troupe Fischerspooner were formed in NEW YORK in 1998 and also have come to include multimedia, strange handmade costumes, dance, and performance art. Originally a duo created by classically qualified musician Warren Fischer and video designer and experimental theatre performer Casey Spooner for an impromptu rendition of the makeshift monitor “Indian Cab Fever” in the Astor Place Starbucks, the group grew to over 20 performers, mainly dancers and visitor vocalists. These performers possess included Cindy Greene, Lizzy Yoder (also of Nice Thunder), and Korean pop documenting designer Mona Trona. The group uses the stage antics of David Bowie and traditional mainstream pop vocalists, combined with the campy consumer electronics of Giorgio Moroder or Depeche Setting and vocoders of Trans Am. By enough time of the 2000 eponymous debut, Fischerspooner had been a certifiable feeling in downtown NEW YORK free galleries and night clubs. The solitary “Emerge” topped Western charts, asked a six-song remix EP, and received Fischer and Spooner invites to international style, art, and culture happenings. The 2002 recording #1 was a re-envisioning of the debut with another mixture of “Emerge,” this time around even more sedate and electro, following a trend of the changing times. The duo came back in 2005 with second recording Odyssey, which hitmaker Linda Perry, intellectual Susan Sontag, and Madonna maker Mirwais all produced appearances.
