Made up of former NUMBER 1 Cup users Seth Cohen (also formerly of Eliot) and Michael Lenzi, the users of Fire Display move forward from the angular guitar pop of their collective recent and only more artistically adventurous reconstructions of familiar indie rock and roll noises. Founded on the brash guitars and jerky rhythms of rings like Wire and Gang of Four, digital components and drum loops are combined in with the greater staid elements. Liberating their self-titled debut in 2000, The Open fire Show was a fascinating mixture of orchestral flourishes, digital distortion, and unusual tape loops that gained the music group a status for demanding and bracing artwork punk.
