A British prog rock-band somewhat similar to Procol Harum, Areas were formed in 1971 by ex-Rare Parrot organist Graham Field, former Ruler Crimson and potential Greenslade drummer Andy McCulloch, and guitarist and vocalist Alan Barry, who also spent a while in Ruler Crimson. The group lasted in regards to a blink of the eye, liberating one recording (the self-titled Areas) on Epic Information (CBS Information in the U.K.) and an individual in 1971 before phoning it quits. The lone recording, which some enthusiasts and critics possess hailed like a dropped masterpiece, was designed for a time like a Sony Japanese-only Compact disc. Epic Information finally released Areas officially on Compact disc in 2006.
