Biography

Produced in 1995 in Rio de Janeiro by guitarist Jorge Mário da Silva (Seu Jorge, who was simply living over the streets since four years previous, grew up in the indegent and violent neighborhoods from the Baixada Fluminense and acquired two brothers wiped out), French flutist Bertrand Doussain, and Gabriel Moura, Farofa Carioca evidenced the disposition of mixing many nationwide (samba, axé music, choro, xote) and transnational genres (hip-hop, reggae) already within their name (farofa is really a dish manufactured from an assortment of multiple ingredients). The music group shortly became an octet and began to talk about live shows with rings like Globe Hemp, Rappa, and Squaws. Also before their initial album that they had strikes like “Doidinha Em fun??o de Ter Neném,” “São Gonça” and “A Carne,” created with Rappa’s Marcelo Yucca. After 3 years of doing displays in Rio, Farofa Carioca documented their first record, Moro no Brasil, in 1998. It had been the start of their performances at visible occasions like their display in São Paulo (distributed to Fernanda Abreu), the Free of charge Jazz Celebration (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), as well as the Mundão (São Paulo). The documentary acquired on its soundtrack two music with the group, “Brasis” and “Rap perform Negão.” Also from 1999 emerged the participation from the music group in the Abril Pro Rock and roll Festival and in the Multishow Television tribute to Tim Maia with Jorge Ben Jor, Ed Motta, along with other performers. In 1999, Seu Jorge remaining the group and began his solo profession. Farofa Carioca continuing their actions with Gabriel Moura on vocals, starting the 2000 display Ói Nócan be Aqui Outra Vez.
