Fara

All-female folk quartet Fara hailed in the Orkney Islands from the northeastern tip of Scotland, a close-knit community whose solid Norse heritage provides produced a distinctive and wealthy culture and musical tradition. The five first members were youth close friends. Fiddlers Catriona Cost, Jeana Leslie (who also sang), and Louise Bichan, and pianist Jennifer Austin, was raised in the administrative centre Kirkwall and got their begin in music in the senior high school fiddle ensemble Hadhirgaan, beneath the tutelage of Douglas Montgomery, a pivotal body in Orkney’s folk picture who founded the rings Saltfishforty as well as the Seat.
