The Brooklyn-based indie rock outfit Fang Island craft impossibly heavy, hymn-like anthems that blend the uplifting and accessible hard rock melodiousness of Andrew W.K. as well as the D.We.Y. recording design of Surfer Bloodstream using the offbeat tech-heavy intensifying metal of rings like Protest the Hero and Sparta. Shaped in Providence as a skill project as the people were all going to the Rhode Isle School of Style, the music group (made up of guitarist Jason Bartell, bassist Michael Jacober, guitarist Chris Georges, guitarist Nicholas Andrew Sadler, and drummer Marc St. Sauveur) released its eponymous debut recording through the Sargent Home label in early 2010. Fang Island’s second studio room outing, Major, found its way to 2012.
