Fairuz is an amazingly popular Lebanese musician that has were able to sustain Lebanese cultural motifs and dreams while mixing her shows with sounds seeing that diverse seeing that Mozart and Latin American rhumbas, flamenco, and Balkan folk music. 1 Fairuz's family was so poor that she could not buy a radio to listen to music, the thing that she adored since she was a child, so she used to sit at the window of her house to listen to the music coming from other apartments' radios.
2 She received "Medal of Honor" from Jordan, "Order of Cedars" from her country Lebanon, Highest artistic distinction from Tunisia, "Key to the Holy City" from Jerusalem Cultural Committee, "Key to the city of Las Vegas" from the United States, "Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres" awarded by French President François Mitterrand alongside another from president Jacques Chirac, Memorial Syrian stamp from the Syrian government, and a list of other honors and awards from other countries.
3 In July 2007, Fairuz became the first artist from the Arab World to perform in Greece, at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.
4 She has a sister named Hoda Haddad that resembles her in shape and voice and she too had a musical and acting career but did not get the same recognition as Fairuz.
