Experimental Audio Research

Biography

Experimental Audio Study — E.A.R. for brief — was a loosely associated set up of performers mainly spearheaded by Range frontman Sonic Increase; every once in awhile, the group also included, amongst others, My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields, God’s Kevin Martin, and AMM’s Eddie Prevost. Being a revolving workout in guitar-based sound, each E.A.R. discharge radically differed in the types preceding it, spanning the separate between weightless atmosphere and dense bed linens of reviews; the task was presented via 1994’s Mesmerised, and was implemented a few a few months afterwards by Pocket Symphony, released exclusively on 5″ vinyl fabric. (As befitting Sonic Boom’s very own love for record collecting, the produces that implemented in 1995 — Hydroponic and an untitled work — appeared just being a 10″ and 8″ picture-disc documenting, respectively.) Although released in 1996, the Beyond the Pale LP was originally designed as the initial Experimental Audio Analysis discharge, and was in fact documented in 1992; Phenomena 256 implemented that August. Next up was 1997’s The Köner Test, a nod to minimalist Thomas Köner, who also made an appearance on the disk; Millennium Music implemented in 1998, with following produces including Data Rape.
