Excel

Not the pc system, but a skatecore/crossover music group from Venice, CA (where else?), Excel had been musical baby brothers to hometown heroes Suicidal Tendencies, and documented a trio of albums which became very popular with educated fans from the genre, otherwise the music-buying people. Shaped in 1985 by vocalist Dan Clemente, guitarist Adam Siegel, bassist Shaun Ross, and drummer Greg Saenz, Excel debuted in 1987 using the well-intentioned but excessively ST-dependent Split Picture. They later discovered a few unique tricks of their very own for 1989’s somewhat improved The Joke’s you, but split for a couple years before documenting 1995’s funk-thrash swan music Looking for Refuge — where time they’d began sounding similar to San Francisco’s Mordred.
