Ex Hex

Inspired by vivid and brash glam rock, power pop, and punk, Washington, D.C.’s power trio Ex girlfriend or boyfriend Hex feature vocalist/guitarist Mary Timony (also of Helium and Crazy Flag), bassist Betsy Wright, and drummer Laura Harris. Timony initial linked to Harris, who also used Benjy Ferree as well as the Aquarium; after Wright — a previous person in the Fireplace Tapes — became a member of the flip, the trio started documenting in Timony’s cellar and playing displays with performers including Superchunk’s Macintosh McCaughan. Later in 2013, it had been announced that Ex girlfriend or boyfriend Hex agreed upon to McCaughan’s label, Merge Information. The band’s debut one, “Sizzling hot and Frosty,” found its way to March 2014 with a far more streamlined and simple audio than Timony pursued with Outrageous Flag. Because of their initial full-length, Rips, Ex girlfriend or boyfriend Hex caused manufacturer Mitch Easter aswell as Timony’s regular collaborator Jonah Takagi; Bobby Harlow from the Move and Conspiracy of Owls blended the record. Rips found its way to October 2014.
