Biography
Once most widely known for his tenure within the rap device House of Discomfort, Everlast successfully reinvented himself in 1998 using the best-selling Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, a mainly acoustic, hip-hop-flavored work within the genre-crossing mildew of Beck. Created Erik Schrody, Everlast 1st surfaced in LA as an associate of Ice-T’s Rhyme Syndicate Cartel, issuing his debut recording, Forever Everlasting, in 1990. Once the recording failed to discover an target audience, he formed Home of Discomfort with Danny Son and DJ Lethal; carving out a graphic which drew greatly on Everlast and Danny Boy’s distributed Irish history, the trio were able to conquer the stereotypes facing white rappers and obtained a massive strike making use of their 1992 solitary “Leap Around.” Their self-titled debut LP also proceeded to go platinum, however when such follow-up attempts as 1994’s Identical to It Ever Was and 1996’s Truth Smashed to Globe Shall Rise Once again failed to do it again Home of Pain’s early achievement, the group disbanded. Everlast after that came back to his single career. While documenting Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, nevertheless, he suffered an enormous cardiac arrest stemming from a congenital defect, leading to heart bypass medical procedures and an artificial valve implant. Pursuing his recovery, he finished the recording, which made an appearance in nov 1998 to solid industrial notices. It inserted the very best Ten, proceeded to go platinum, and released the pervasive Best 40 solo “What It’s Like.” After showing up on Santana’s vaunted return record Supernatural, Everlast started focus on a follow-up record with an eclectic band of visitor artists. Entitled Eat at Whitey’s, the record premiered in past due 2000, and appreciated critical see (even when it wasn’t quite as effective as Whitey Ford). Everlast after that signed with Isle/Def Jam before launching the the moody, song-driven Light Trash Gorgeous in 2004. The record featured a solid country impact, but its brand-new sound didn’t increase Everlast’s record product sales. He was slipped in the label immediately after, but Everlast bounced back again by signing up for his Home of Discomfort alums within a hip-hop supergroup called La Coka Nostra. The group released many recordings via MySpace in 2008; that same calendar year, Everlast released his fifth studio room record, Love, War as well as the Ghost of Whitey Ford, by himself label. The record presented a cover of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Jail Blues,” which Everlast released as an individual.
