Ethix

The Ethix were originally located in Lafayette, California, USA. In 1965 their line-up was made up of Ken Metcalf, Expenses Gerst, Gil Sanchez, Sandy Clifford, Wayne Ceballos and innovator Cork Marchesi. Their debut solitary, ‘Skopul’/‘It’s Period’, is definitely R&B-based with small hint from the switch of style exposed on its successor, ‘Poor Trip’/‘Skins’. Whereas the b-side invites assessment with the first Moms Of Invention, ‘Poor Trip’ is fairly unlike modern 1967 produces with screaming vocals and arbitrary, distorted guitars underpinned by metronomic bass and percussion. The Ethix name was left behind soon later on when Marchesi created the similarly eerie Fifty Feet Hose.
