Esoteric

Hailing in the birthplace of rock, Birmingham, Britain, Esoteric was founded in 1992 by Greg Chandler (vocals/guitar) and Gordon Bicknell (guitar/examples/keyboards), their motives being to create their moniker to music by method of dark, drawn-out, tormented, but additionally cinematic extreme loss of life/doom. And, after filling up their ranks using a voluble band of henchmen, their ensuing dual albums, 1994’s Epistemological Despondency and 1997’s The Pernicious Enigma do just that, offering new meaning towards the genre by comprising but six or seven protracted music each. In comparison, 1999’s single-disc Metamorphogenesis (incremented with spikes of reviews and modern acid solution rock and roll) was viewed being a mini-album, and preceded an extended hiatus where Chandler, Bicknell, and current associates Steve Peters (electric guitar), Trevor Lines (bass), and Keith York (drums) would convene just at faraway intervals to focus on a 4th album. The wait around, ironically enough, just helped gasoline Esoteric’s developing cult following, so when it finally surfaced through Period of Mist in 2004, the four-track Unconscious Dissolution in to the Continuum demonstrated their most effective and — in the event that’s possible — available effort yet.
