Biography

When Esma Redzepova and her bandleader, mentor, and hubby, Stevo Teodosievski, were crowned “Queen and Ruler of Gypsy Music” on the first Globe Celebration of Romany Tracks and Music in 1976, it marked the pinnacle of an extremely successful musical career. The merchandise of the Rom (Gypsy) Muslim and Jewish family members, Redzepova was the girl of the Serbian dad and Turkish mom. Although she experienced racism as a kid, she continuing to accept her Rom traditions. Determined to create her profession in music, she still left home with an individual suitcase formulated with one dress and something Cocek outfit. With Teodosievski’s encouragement and support, she became among the great performers of Rom music. As well as Teodosievski, Redzepova utilized music to greatly help Rom kids to flee their impoverishment. From 1970, the few provided a property for a lot more than 40 musically gifted guys.
