Biography
Hailing from North Ohio, Ernie Thacker grew up on the requirements of bluegrass music. Steeped in the task of Costs Monroe, Ralph Stanley, and Jimmy Martin, Thacker had taken traditional violin lessons as a kid but quickly dropped beneath the tutelage of the uncle who performed within a bluegrass music group. Breezing through research in fiddle, mandolin, and electric guitar, he soon begun to gain renown in the encompassing towns. By possibility, Thacker finished up moving to reside along with his grandparents and participating in the same cathedral as his idol Ralph Stanley, who was simply soon convinced more than enough from the boy’s abilities to provide him an area in his music group being a mandolinist. Just 16 yrs . old at that time, Thacker became a member of Stanley being a touring and documenting member, eventually upgrading to be the group’s lead vocalist and guitarist by age 18. Five years, six albums, and something Grammy afterwards, Thacker still left to go after his very own musical vision being a single artist. Merging a like of Keith Whitley, Hank Williams, and Elvis Presley, Thacker continuing within the traditionalist vein of his prior function, though added a modern advantage to dilute the greater stringent bluegrass components. His debut, 1996’s Tennessee Blues showcased his significant abilities as an instrumentalist and vocalist, but most likely was somewhat unsatisfactory to those planning on a far more dogmatically bluegrass strategy. The follow-up, 2002’s Chill of Lonesome, continuing in an identical route, with bluegrass veterans like Dan Tyminski and Rob Ickes signing up for Thacker on a couple of songs that maintained a traditional advantage, but appeared poised to break through within the contemporary nation mainstream.
