A brilliant specialist with a lovely tone and a variety, Ernie Royal spent the majority of his profession in the anonymous configurations of studio rings, uplifting the music but just gaining popularity among those in the music market. The younger sibling of altoist Marshall Royal (who was simply nine years old), the trumpeter found early encounter playing in LA with Les Hite & His Orchestra (1937-1938) and with Cee Pee Johnson (1939). Both from the Royal brothers had been with Lionel Hampton & His Big Music group (1940-1942) and Ernie Royal strike the popular screaming high records on the initial Hampton edition of “Soaring Home.” Over time in the Military (1942-1945), he worked well in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA with Vernon Alley and in LA with Phil Moore, and spent a lot of 1946 with Count number Basie & His Orchestra. Royal was an associate of Woody Herman’s Second Herd during 1947-1949 and got brief stints with Charlie Barnet and Duke Ellington.
