Ernie Johnson

Vocalist and songwriter Ernie Johnson deserves a lot of credit for his attempts in the styles of spirit and blues, but he doesn’t get the nod for the funky basslines featured in the touring and saving combo of acoustic guitar wildman Buddy Man in the past due ’60s and early ’70s. That was a different Johnson, among the wonderful rhythm section options avaiable to a bandleader for the Chicago blues picture during that period. In the meantime, the vocalist from the same name was surviving in Dallas. Locking collectively inside the fraternal bonds of the combo that included tempo guitarist Phillip Man, the bassist was component of 1 of the latest elements of the bandleader’s profession. This “burning” segment started circa 1968 whenever a live documenting entitled THAT IS Buddy Guy strike the streets, getting the ear of several a teenage business lead acoustic guitar nerd. Johnson was still for the music group for the impressive Hold That Aircraft in 1972 and continuing his stint with Man through the finish of the 10 years. He turns up on other Chicago blues recordings through the ’60s that are believed classic: West Part Soul by acoustic guitar wrangler Magic Sam and NATURE by philosophical pianist Memphis Thin.
