English National Opera

1 of 2 opera businesses situated in the London region, the English Country wide Opera can track its roots back again to the establishment of a vintage Vic-based theater firm in 1912 by Lilian Baylis. The business would continue to be the Vic-Wells Opera Firm in the 1930s, before spending the next World War vacationing the nation hoping of increasing spirits and morale. In the ’60s, the Sadler’s Wells Opera transferred to the London Coliseum, and in 1974 was renamed the British National Opera. Delivering works at a far more acceptable price than various other businesses, the English Country wide was well-known for its theatrical design, and for shows in English. The business has had several prominent directors, the newest getting Edward Gardner, appointed in 2007.
