English Congregation

The British Congregation was a short-lived outfit that achieved one-hit wonder status in america. Created in Britain as this is the Congregation, they amended their name in early 1972 for U.S. produces, presumably in order to avoid misunderstandings using the then-popular Mike Curb Congregation. Their single moment in sunlight came in planting season 1972 with “Softly Whispering I REALLY LIKE You,” a monitor written by mentioned songwriting group Roger Make and Roger Greenaway (who originally documented it in 1967 under their David and Jonathan moniker). The merging of sweeping orchestration and choir with lead vocalist Brian Keith’s Levi Stubbs-like declamatory vocal created a memorable quantity 29 strike, but no following strike singles or albums adopted. Keith continued to provide studio room vocals on several projects, none which bought from significant amounts.
