This contemporary jazz quintet emerged from London-based Tomorrow’s Warriors and attracted much attention in the united kingdom and northern Europe. The users are Nathaniel Facey (b. 1983, London, Britain; saxophone), Jay Phelps (b. Vancouver, English Columbia, Canada; trumpet), Package Downes (b. 1986, Britain; piano), Neil Charles (b. Birmingham, Western Midlands, Britain; bass) and Shaney Forbes (drums). Winners from the Western Broadcasting Union’s Western Jazz Competition in the North Ocean Jazz event, they toured with substantial achievement. Their live looks received high crucial acclaim, as do their 2007 debut for the Destin-E label. Playing a traveling contemporary variance on hard bop and free of charge jazz types of an earlier era, Empirical generates effective and interesting multi-layered music that may be enjoyed because of its surface area passion and skill and because of its deeply participating inner values. Showing up simply because guests on Empirical are label owner Courtney Pine, on bass clarinet, and Dennis Rollins on trombone. Many of Empirical’s associates contribute original parts towards the quintet’s repertoire among that are Facey’s ‘Blessings’, Downes’ ‘Dark Female’, Phelps’ ‘Clapton Willow’ and ‘A Tyrant’s Story’, and Forbes’ ‘The Kite’. Among various other parts are Ali Farka Touré’s ‘Tulumba’, ‘The Deep’, ‘Fats Kitty’ and ‘Palantir’.
