A respected New Orleans clarinetist, Emile Barnes produced fairly few recordings during his profession but could be heard about classes for Folkways in 1951 and 1952 (that have been issued within the ’70s about LPs) as well as for Jazzology during 1961 and 1963. He was the sibling of Polo Barnes and discovered from the first clarinetists including Lorenzo Tio, Jr. and Alphonse Picou. Barnes caused Friend Petit and Chris Kelly (the second option through the entire 1920s). He spent a lot of the 1930s and ’40s beyond music, but from the past due ’40s was gigging with Child Howard, and he continued to be fairly mixed up in 1950s and ’60s.
