Little is well known on the subject of Elvie Thomas, a nation blues vocalist and guitarist. Reported to be from Palmer’s Crossing, MS, she documented two tracks (“Motherless Kid Blues” and “To MY HOME”) in Grafton, WI, for Paramount Information in March of 1930, with Geeshie Wiley helping on second acoustic guitar. Thomas also supported Wiley on two paths at the same program, adding another acoustic guitar on “Last Kind Term Blues” and “Skinny Calf Blues.” A yr later on she sang and supported Wiley on two even more edges for Paramount, “Choose Poor Robin Clean” and “Eagles on the Half.”
