Elisabeth Leonskaja is an extremely respected (former Soviet) pianist whose career blossomed within the shadow of Sviatoslav Richter and Emil Gilels. Known on her behalf modesty — not really unlike old compatriot Maria Yudina — Leonskaja was mentored by Richter and frequently performed duets with him.
