Elba

Located in Seattle and called for the island where Napoleon was exiled, Elba — made up of Brian Graham, Shea Teeley, Nick Cappelletti, and Matt Hargraves — conjure pictures of both these sites using their unhappy, spacious indie rock and roll. Elba’s reverb-heavy audio evokes the cloudy skies from the Pacific Northwest and pairs it with moody, minor-key melodies, offering the band’s music a plaintive, isolated audio. The group produced its debut in 2008 with An Avalanche, and implemented up quickly another season with Don’t End up being Discouraged, Small Sparrow. After several silent years, Elba returned in full pressure, liberating their Diplodocus EP in 2011 before dealing with important manufacturer and songwriter Graig Markel on the third full-length record, the eponymous Elba.
