Using their debut EP, Strange People’s Parade Performed by El Musico, El Musico created a natural mixture of Tom Waits and east European music, with hints of gypsies and Klezmer bands. On stage, the eight-person, multi-instrumentalist music group acted such as a wandering cabaret/east Western european brass music group, complete with dark ill-fitting matches, grating vocals, and old-fashioned horns. On the first full-length record, Themes In the Dusty Streets, they left a number of the Eastern affects behind, concentrating even more in the duets of Magnus Andreasson and Jenny Rangmar. The music group has a popularity as an excellent live act, as well as if the debut didn’t receive much interest, it provided them several prestigious celebration gigs, for instance at Roskilde 2001.
