El Gato

The psychedelic pop/rock combo El Gato formed in Denton, TX, in early 1995 across the core lineup of John Burgmeier (guitar, keyboards), Kevin Dotolo (drums, percussion), Evan Hisey (bass, keyboards), and John Vineyard (guitar, vocals). Soon after they started playing jointly, the band’s audio started getting the ears of well-known Texas works like Baboon, Tripping Daisy, and HiFi Drowning, most of whom Un Gato would ultimately share levels with. Their initial record, the self-released 7″ Get away Musician/Ambulance, heightened their profile in the flourishing north Tx underground scene from the past due ’90s, and allowed these to tour and fund their next task, the Everybody’s a Piñata EP. Released in June of 1998, the record generated a substantial amount of press for the music group, including a nod from CMJ and an area on the choice Press university radio graph. After touring to get Everybody’s a Piñata in 1999 and early 2000, they made a decision to have a break and concentrate on composing and documenting their initial full-length album.
