Un Coco was the best-known of many tasks by cult disco favorites W. Michael Lewis and Laurin Rinder, who created, arranged, published, and played all of the devices on almost all their materials. Their distinctive audio was partly due to their jazz teaching, which arrived not only within their plans and chord progressions, however in the entire musicality and sonic creativity. Rinder have been a longtime program and touring drummer for rock and roll and soul performers, and performed on classes at Motown and Muscle mass Shoals. He fulfilled keyboardist Lewis in LA during the past due ’60s at an audition for the Standells; both went on to try out in a rock-band known as Joshua, and in 1973 had been hired with the AVI label to try out on some expanded R&B remixes geared for danceclub enjoy. Thus hooked in to the rising disco audio, Rinder and Lewis started producing and documenting their own paths in 1975, issuing the LP Caravan beneath the fictitious group name un Coco (a medication guide). Mondo Disco implemented in 1976, as do Let’s OBTAIN IT Together, the main point where they actually strike their stride. The name cut was co-written by vocalist Merria Ross and was a considerable club strike, breaking un Coco for the disco picture. The title songs on 1977’s Cocomotion and 1978’s Dancing Heaven were also effective, with the previous (once again co-written by Ross) rating as un Coco’s best-remembered outing. By this time around, Rinder and Lewis had been producing Television theme music aswell, and started issuing side tasks around the Butterfly label aswell; these alternative guises included Tuxedo Junction, Saint Tropez, le Pamplemousse, Rinder & Lewis, as well as the Rinlew Allstars. Pursuing 1979’s Dance Guy, the duo retired the un Coco name to focus on their additional projects; within the wake from the anti-disco backlash, they continued to be in television for a while through the early ’80s before retiring from music.
