Ekova

The globally inspired trio Ekova got its name from a word coined by singer/songwriter Dierdre Dubois when she combined what “echo” and “ova.” The Paris-based group includes Dubois, a transplanted Californian; Iranian percussionist Arach Khalatbari; Algerian guitarist/oud participant Mehdi Haddab; and French keyboardist Cyrille Dufay, who was simply actually enlisted and then modernize the audio on portions from the group’s debut record. That record, Heaven’s Dust, mixed contemporary textures and agreements with African, Celtic, Indian, and Near Eastern components and Dubois’ exclusive, self-created vocabulary. The record premiered in France in 1998 and discovered a U.S. discharge in 2000 on Six Levels Records, as do a 1999 remix record titled Soft Air flow & Tsunami Breaks. Space Lullabies as well as other Fantasmagore adopted in early 2001.
