Edwin George Monk

Of small import were the compositions of Edwin Monk. He was an British organist who analyzed with Hullah, Phillips and Macfarren. Operating to St Colomba’s University as organist and expert of music in 1844, Monk later on settle in Oxford where he structured the Motet and Madrigal Culture of the University or college. Radley University was founded, partly, by Monk who was simply also among the unique members from the Musical Association. Passions of Monk included Biblical scholarship or grant and astronomy. He was instrumental in compiling librettos for Macfarren’s oratorios and Monk edited several books coping with music including “The Purchase of Chanting the Daily Prayer as well as the Litany as found in the faculty of St Colomba,” “The Anglican Chant Publication,” and “The Anglican Choral Services Book.”
