Edward Forehand

b. 28 Sept 1942, Hertford, NEW YORK, USA. Born partly sighted however now totally blind, Forehand can be an remarkably talented guitarist and vocalist. He started performing gospel music on road edges before switching towards the electric guitar. Shifting to NY in the first 60s, he performed at blues night clubs like a single act, phoning himself Small Buster, and in addition with drummer Melvin Taylor, accumulating a loyal pursuing that allowed him to steadily augment the group with additional tools, including bass, body organ, saxophone and trumpet. He documented edges for Jubilee Information within the 60s, probably the most effective of which had been ‘Looking TO GET A House’ and ‘Youthful Boy Blues’, but a mooted recording was terminated. After two edges on Minit Information Forehand was pressured to focus on live function, steadily accumulating a strong status through the entire 70s and 80s. Documenting only a small amount Buster AS WELL AS THE Spirit Brothers for the Rounder offshoot Bullseye Blues, he released the acclaimed DIRECTLY ON Period! in 1996, gaining a W.C. Handy nomination for Greatest Soul Blues Record. In addition to the seasoned originals (a few of which dated for an aborted documenting session within the middle-80s), the record included a monitor, ‘Whatever It Uses’, compiled by renowned songwriter Dan Penn.
