Bainton was educated on the Royal University of Music. He was a teacher of music on the Newcastle upon Tyne Conservatoire and movie director of the brand new South Wales Condition Conservatorium. During Globe Battle I he was interned at Ruhleben. He gained the Carnegie Prize in 1917 for his symphony =Before Sunrise=. Bainton constructed with late-Romantic harmonies and his functions are lyrical using a pastoral tone.
